סימן צה סעיף ג

אֵין נוֹתְנִים קַרְפֵּף אֶלָּא לָעִיר. אֲבָל לְבַיִת אֶחָד, אֵין נוֹתְנִין קַרְפֵּף, אֶלָא תֵּכֶף מִקִּיר הַבַּיִת וָחוּצָה מַתְחִיל לִמְדֹּד תְּחוּם שַׁבָּת.

Karpeif-enclosures are added only to cities¹¹In order to qualify for the addition of a karpeif a city must have at least three courtyards, each containing two houses. [Mishnah Berurah 398: 38] but not to a single house; but it is directly from the wall of the house that we begin to measure the Shabbos boundary.
