סימן צח סעיף לה

כָּל הַמְּלָאכוֹת הַמֻתָּרוֹת לַעֲשׂוֹת בְּיוֹם טוֹב זֶהוּ דַּוְקָא לְצֹרֶךְ אָדָם, אֲבָל לֹא לְצֹרֶךְ בְּהֵמָה, דִּכְתִיב, יֵעָשֶׂה לָכֶם, וְדַרְשִׁינָן לָכֶם וְלֹא לִבְהֵמָה. וְלָכֵן אָסוּר לְבַשֵּׁל אוֹ לְהוֹצִיא אֵיזֶה דָּבָר לְצֹרֶךְ בְּהֵמָה, כְּמוֹ בַּשַׁבָּת.

All work that is permitted to be done on Yom Tov, may be performed only for the needs of man, but not for animals, for it is written, "Shall be done for you," (Ex. 12:16) and it is expounded¹⁰⁰Masechet Beitzah 21. "For you, but not for animals." Therefore it is forbidden to cook or carry out anything for the needs of an animal, just as it is forbidden on Shabbos.
