סימן קלג סעיף כז

לְאַחַר צֵאת הְכּוֹכָבִים מִתְפַּלְלִין מַעֲרִיב. וְיֵשׁ לְהַעֲמִיד שְּׁלִיחַ צִבּוּר הָגוּן, וְיִתְפַּלְלוּ בְנַחַת וּבְכַוָּנָה, וְיֵשׁ לִגְעֹר בַּחוֹטְפִים. אוֹמְרִים בִּתְפִלַּת שְׁמֹנֶה עֶשְׂרֵה אַתָּה חוֹנַנְתָּנוּ. אִם חָל בְּשַׁבָּת, אוֹמְרִים: וְיִתֵּן לְךָ, אֲבָל אֵין אוֹמְרִים וִיהִי נֹעַם, וְאַתָּה קָדוֹשׁ. וּלְאַחַר הַתְּפִלָּה מְקַדְּשִׁין אֶת הַלְבָנָה וּפוֹקְדִין אִישׁ אֶת רֵעֵהוּ בְשִׂמְחָה וְטוּב לֵב, כְּמוֹ בְיוֹם טוֹב.

After the stars have come out the Maariv service is said. A respected person should be chosen as Chazzan, and the prayers should be said slowly and intently. Those who pray in a hurry should be scolded. In the Shemoneh Esrei you should say Ata chonantanu [You have favored us]. If Yom Kippur occurred on Shabbos you should say Veyiten lecha [May God give you], but you do not say Vihi no'am [May the pleasantness] and Ve'ata kadosh [You are the Holy One]. After the prayers, Kiddush levanah [Sanctification of the moon] is said, and people exchange good wishes with one another, with happiness and a glad heart, as on a Yom Tov.
