סימן יא סעיף טו
אַכְסַדְרָה שֶׁיֵּשׁ לָהּ שָׁלֹשׁ מְחִיצוֹת וְתִקְרָה עַל גַּבֵּיהֶן וּפְרוּצָה בָּרְבִיעִית, אַף עַל פִּי שֶׁיֵּשׁ לָהּ שָׁם שְׁתֵּי פְצִימִין כְּמוֹ צוּרַת הַפֶּתַח, פְּטוּרָה מִמְּזוּזָה, מִפְּנֵי שֶׁהַפְּצִימִין לֹא נַעֲשׂוּ מִשּׁוּם מְזוּזוֹת אֶלָּא כְּדֵי לְהַעֲמִיד הַתִּקְרָה. אֲבָל אִם יֵשׁ לָהּ מְחִיצָה גַּם בְּרוּחַ רְבִיעִית, אַף עַל פִּי שֶׁהַמְּחִיצוֹת נְמוּכוֹת וְאֵינָן מַגִּיעוֹת עַד הַתִּקְרָה, וְאַף עַל פִּי שֶׁהֵן עֲשׂוּיוֹת חַלּוֹנוֹת חַלּוֹנוֹת, חַיֶּבֶת.
A porch which has three partitions and a ceiling above them, but is open on the fourth side, even though it has two columns (on the fourth side) in the form of a doorway, requires no mezuzah, because the columns are not made for the purpose of forming doorposts but rather to support the ceiling. However, if there is also a partition on the fourth side, even though the partitions are low and do not extend to the ceiling, and even though they are constructed with many open spaces,8Lit. with windows. a mezuzah is required.
