סימן מו סעיף כח

תַּרְנְגוֹלִים מְסֹרָסִים נוֹהֲגִים לְאָכְלָם, מִשּׁוּם דְּסוֹמְכִין דְּמִסְּתָמָא הָעוֹבֵד כּוֹכָבִים הַמְסָרֵס הוּא אֻמָּן וּבָקִי בַּדָּבָר, שֶׁלֹּא יַעֲשֶׂה בַּתְּפִירָה אֵיזֶה רְעוּתָא, בִּבְנֵי מֵעַיִם (וְעַיֵּן לְקַמָּן סִימָן קצ"א סָעִיף ו'). אֲבָל אִם נִמְצָא בָּהֶן אֵיזֹה רֵעוּתָא, אֲפִלּוּ רַק שֶׁאֵינָן מֻנָּחִין כָּרָאוּי הֵן אֲסוּרִין.

Castrated chickens may be eaten because we rely on the presumption that the non-Jewish castrator is an expert and in sewing up the chicken did not cause any defect to the intestines. However, if any defect is found, even if it is merely that the intestines do not lay in the normal position, it is forbidden to eat them.
